An Hermès "Ciels Byzantins" scarf by Julia Abadie, 1997 · illuminations and mosaics on an ivory background, straw yellow border · issued only once, never reissued · silk as illumination.

For this scarf, Julia Abadie draws inspiration from the illuminations that adorn the manuscripts of Byzantine sacred texts — these compositions with perfect floral symmetries, geometric medallions, and intertwined arabesques that give the mind a meditative quality. Byzantine art, halfway between East and West, between the divine and the decorative, produces works of graphic richness that few traditions can equal. Hermès here creates a scarf of rare delicacy: stylized peacocks, scroll mosaics, symmetrical compositions on an ivory background and a straw yellow border. Issued in 1997, this pattern has never been reissued — making it a particularly sought-after collector's item today.

100% twill silk, 88 × 88 cm, hand-rolled edges, original label present. Good overall condition — light creases, no stains, no major defects. Comes with its original Hermès box and a RARR Vintage certificate of authenticity.
