The Bucket is the direct descendant of the Noé — Louis Vuitton's original bucket bag, launched in 1932 by Gaston-Louis Vuitton at the request of a champagne producer who needed a bag capable of carrying five bottles at once (four upright and one upside down in the center). Designed in beige coated Monogram canvas, with its leather drawstring closure and open cylindrical silhouette, the Noé has since become one of the house's most copied and recognizable models. The Bucket PM is a structured reinterpretation — a more compact size, adjustable flat handles, a slightly trapezoidal silhouette — which gives it increased versatility between a city bag and a weekend bag.
The coated Monogram canvas, created by Georges Vuitton in 1896 to protect the house's luggage from counterfeits, is one of the most resistant and durable materials in all luxury leather goods — waterproof, almost indestructible, immutable.
