The Damier canvas was created in 1888 by Georges Vuitton — long before the Monogram. Its chocolate and ebony checkerboard pattern is one of the house's first visual signatures, and one of its most enduring. In its Ébène colorway, the Damier canvas offers an alternative to the Monogram: recognizable to those who know how to read it, sober and discreet to others. The Speedy Bandoulière is the contemporary version of the classic Speedy — same iconic silhouette, same generous volume, with the addition of a removable shoulder strap that adapts it to modern uses.
