The Petite Shopping Tote is one of Chanel's answers to the demand for an everyday bag — functional, compact, identifiable. Introduced in the 2000s under Karl Lagerfeld, it combines the house's most classic codes: quilted diamond Caviar leather, the large raised stitched CC on the front, the double gold-tone chain intertwined with leather, the engraved gold-tone zipper. Caviar leather is the most sought-after Chanel leather for everyday use: its thick pebble grain resists scuffs, rain, and time much better than lambskin. In black with gold-tone hardware, the PST is the most classic and timeless combination in the range. This example from series 9 (2002–2003) is a fine example of how Chanel caviar can endure over time without faltering.
