Description & history
Illustrated cards, intertwined ribbons, geometric compositions on a cream background bordered by navy blue — this vintage Gucci silk square is a graphic object in its own right, equally suited to being worn or admired.
Gucci has always had this particular relationship with ornament — a capacity to create patterns that tell a story without being strictly illustrative. This vintage square is an example: a world of play and decoration, with figured cards, colorful ribbons and geometric elements arranged on the surface with printer-like precision. The navy blue border structures the whole and gives the square that frame-like appearance associated with large Italian textile pieces.
