Description & history

The Loewe Gate Small tricolor is one of the most identifiable pieces from the Spanish house — its equestrian saddle shape, knotted belt on the front, and metal side rod make it an instantly recognizable bag, as sculptural as it is functional.

Launched during the Spring-Summer 2018 collection under the artistic direction of Jonathan Anderson, the Gate follows in the footsteps of Loewe's signature bags — alongside the Puzzle — as a leather good conceived as both an object of desire and craftsmanship. Its name refers to the metal side rod that "bars" access to the bag like a gate, a direct evocation of the equestrian world.

This Small model in smooth calfskin, in a tricolor combination of navy, chocolate, and grayish beige, is particularly sought after. The contrasting white topstitching highlights each panel and accentuates the artisanal character of the piece. The adjustable shoulder strap allows for versatile crossbody wear for everyday use.

In very good overall condition, the leather is clean and the corners are intact. A slight discreet mark is visible on the front — with no impact on wear. The suede interior is organized into two compartments with a slip pocket, clean and without major flaws. Sold with Rarr Vintage dustbag and Rarr Vintage certificate — a collector's Loewe piece.
