The Alma is one of Louis Vuitton's most iconic silhouettes. Created in 1934 by Gaston-Louis Vuitton with a strong Art Deco spirit, it is one of the few bags from the house that doesn't need a monogram to be recognized: its domed shape is enough. In Épi leather — the dyed and textured leather whose parallel lines evoke wheat ears — it achieves an additional degree of elegance: sober, structured, timeless. The Cipango Gold color, discontinued from the collection since the 2000s, is one of the most sought-after by collectors of vintage Alma Épi. This warm golden caramel, inspired by the medieval name for Japan, has a warmth and sophistication that current colors struggle to match. This example dates from 1996 — almost thirty years old, and in remarkable condition.
