A vintage Céline Macadam canvas pouch · tobacco brown interwoven medallions, caramel leather, stitched logo on the front · the house of Céline before minimalism, in all its graphic richness.

The Macadam canvas was introduced by Céline in the 1970s — an interwoven round medallion pattern, inspired by Parisian cobblestones, featured on a robust coated canvas paired with natural smooth leather. This was the golden age of Céline travel leather goods: functional, well-constructed pieces designed to last. Since Phoebe Philo's arrival in 2008 and the brand's refocus on minimalism, then Hedi Slimane's tenure in 2018, this aesthetic is no longer produced. Vintage Macadam pieces are now collected for their graphic character and manufacturing quality — a deliberate counterpoint to contemporary understated luxury.
