Louis Vuitton Saint Cloud Bag: dimensions, sizes, and prices
Posted on October 14 2026
The Saint Cloud is a flap crossbody bag from Louis Vuitton, made in Monogram canvas or Epi leather, available in three sizes: PM, MM, and GM. It is no longer manufactured in its original version and is now mostly found second-hand. Here are its dimensions, what each size can hold (tested on our own bags), how to identify a vintage Saint Cloud, and what it costs.
What is the Louis Vuitton Saint Cloud bag?
The Saint Cloud is a square crossbody bag with a large flap, worn on the shoulder or across the body. It takes its name from Saint-Cloud, a commune in the Hauts-de-Seine department west of Paris.
The original model has been discontinued. Louis Vuitton relaunched it around 2017 under the name Saint Cloud NM, in Epi leather, with a different shape and finish. Therefore, the Monogram canvas Saint Cloud bags found second-hand are vintage pieces.
What are the dimensions of the Saint Cloud?
The Saint Cloud comes in three sizes: the PM measures approximately 17 × 18 × 6 cm, the MM 19.5 × 19 × 6 cm, and the GM 24 × 20 × 6 cm. The design is the same; only the size changes.
| Size | Dimensions (L × H × W) | What fits (tested by us) |
|---|---|---|
| PM (small model) | Approx. 17 × 18 × 6 cm | Cardholder, keys, lip gloss, passport. Phone: caution, not all fit. |
| MM | 19.5 × 19 × 6 cm (measured on our Saint Cloud MM) | Phone, cardholder, passport, lip gloss, keys |
| GM (large model) | Approx. 24 × 20 × 6 cm | Glasses case, phone, cardholder, passport, lip gloss, keys |
Dimensions vary slightly from one piece to another, depending on the year and wear. If you are aiming for the PM, check that your phone fits before buying: this is the question we are asked most often.
Which size to choose?
- The PM if you go out with the bare essentials and your phone is compact.
- The MM for an everyday bag: it fits a phone easily and remains discreet.
- The GM if you want to carry a glasses case in addition to the essentials.
How to recognize a vintage Saint Cloud?
A vintage Saint Cloud is recognized by its flap adorned with a horseshoe-shaped buckle, its snap-button closure, and its terracotta cross-grain leather lining.
| Element | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Flap | Large flap with a horseshoe-shaped buckle |
| Closure | Snap button under the flap |
| Interior | Terracotta cross-grain leather lining, one large pocket and one zippered pocket |
| Back | One open flat pocket |
| Strap | Adjustable, with a leather shoulder pad |
On our Saint Cloud MM, the horseshoe buckle also bears the "LOUIS VUITTON" engraving.
The oldest Saint Cloud bags do not have a date code. This is not a sign of a fake: Louis Vuitton only began dating its bags in the early 1980s. For others, follow our Louis Vuitton date code guide.
A rare detail on our Saint Cloud: made in Germany
Our Saint Cloud MM, dated 1992, bears the marking "® LOUIS VUITTON PARIS made in Germany" on the inside, and its date code starts with LP. According to Louis Vuitton date code guides, LP corresponds to a factory in Germany, and bags made in Germany are rare. This is therefore not a defect: it is a manufacturing particularity that is consistent between the marking and the code.
Monogram or Epi: which version should you choose?
The vintage Saint Cloud comes in Monogram canvas and Epi leather. Monogram is the most common second-hand, while Epi stands out for its textured leather and solid colors.
- Monogram Canvas: the most classic version. Look primarily at the condition of the strap and the corners of the flap, as that is where wear appears first.
- Epi Leather: a textured, more understated leather in a solid color, for example, Kenyan Fawn, a tawny brown.
Vintage Saint Cloud or Saint Cloud NM?
The Saint Cloud NM, released around 2017, is not the same bag as the vintage Saint Cloud: it adopts the name and the principle of the flap, but in Epi leather and with a reworked shape.
If you are looking for the Monogram canvas version with the terracotta lining, the vintage Saint Cloud is what you need.
How much does a pre-owned Louis Vuitton Saint Cloud cost?
At RARR Vintage, a vintage Saint Cloud sells for between €580 and €780 depending on its size and condition. Contrary to what one might think, it is the small models that sell for the most.
| Size | Prices observed at RARR Vintage |
|---|---|
| PM (small model) | €700 to €780 |
| MM | €649 (Monogram, grade B, online in October 2026) |
| GM (large model) | €580 to €600 |
Factors that influence the price:
- The strap and shoulder pad: cracks, softening, stitching.
- The flap: rubbed corners, snap button that holds well.
- The interior: the terracotta lining can get stained or worn, especially at the bottom and in the zippered pocket.
Each piece is described with a precise condition grade. At RARR Vintage, every bag is also authenticated with Entrupy. The Entrupy certificate is included for bags over €1,000 and is available as an option for €30 for others.
