Paloma Picasso has been designing for Tiffany & Co. since 1980—a collaboration spanning over forty years, which is rare in jewelry. The house commends her unique gift: the ability to find beauty in unexpected places, from New York City subway graffiti to a simple olive leaf. Her designs possess a free, almost spontaneous stroke that is not often found in classic jewelry.
The Loving Heart is the perfect illustration. The heart is traced in a single gesture, as if with a pencil: a continuous line that rises, descends, crosses at the bottom, and lets its two ends extend freely. Nothing is closed, nothing is symmetrical—it is a drawn heart, not a cut-out one. This overlapping detail that spills over is the signature of the model, and what sets it apart from all other heart pendants on the market.
This version is the diamond-set variation of the design. A round diamond is placed exactly where the line crosses on the lower loop—a single point of light, placed in the right spot, capturing the eye without weighing down the silhouette. This detail shifts the jewelry from casual to evening wear. The rest is 925 sterling silver on a delicate 42 cm fine chain; the whole piece weighs only 2.8 g.
