Christian Dior never needed an abstract monogram: the fashion house made its own signature its emblem. The word "Dior," written in that fine, slightly slanted script that hasn't changed since 1947, functions as a logo in its own right—it is read and recognized in a single glance. It is more direct than an interlaced cipher, and more elegant than a lone initial.
This necklace features it as its sole motif. The name is openworked into the gold-tone metal, cut out letter by letter, and placed in the center of an oval medallion; all around, a crown of individually set clear rhinestones frames it and catches the light. The background is left open, which lightens the pendant and allows skin to show through—a detail that changes everything about the way the piece is worn.
The fine, supple chain is adjustable from 36 to 41.5 cm. When adjusted to its shortest length, it sits as a choker for daytime wear; when lengthened, it falls just below the collarbone for a dressier look.
