Bottega Veneta was founded in 1966 in Vicenza and built itself on a rejection: that of the logo. While all other Italian houses of the time were signing their pieces, this one chose to display nothing at all, staking everything on the hand. The Intrecciato—this weave of fine strips of leather intertwined by hand—was born of this constraint, combined with another, more pragmatic one: the sewing machines of the time damaged the finest leathers, so they were woven rather than sewn.
The result is this texture, identifiable from three meters away without a single name appearing. On this pouch, the weave runs across the entire surface in full-grain lambskin—a supple leather that feels warm to the touch and moves with you instead of remaining rigid. The matte black brings out the relief, and the gold-tone hardware of the attachment rings adds a warm touch.
It is a perfectly proportioned size. Only two centimeters thick: the pouch sits flat against the body, crossbody, without ever getting in the way. Inside, integrated card slots remove the need to carry a wallet—you can slip your cards directly into the bag, which leaves room for a phone, passport, lipstick, and keys. The shoulder strap is detachable: once removed, the piece becomes an evening clutch. Made in Italy, serial number B08246997*.
