Launched in 2017 by Karl Lagerfeld as a tribute to Gabrielle Chanel, the Gabrielle line marks a shift in the brand's leather goods wardrobe: instead of the smooth calfskin or lambskin of the Classic and Boy lines, Karl chose aged calfskin — a leather treated to present from the outset this patinated, more matte, more textured appearance, which other leathers take years to acquire. A choice that reflects a philosophy: Gabrielle pieces are not to be protected, but to be worn, each mark becoming a chapter.
