The Macadam motif is Céline's historic monogram. It was born in the 1970s from a design inspired by the chains of the Arc de Triomphe, a stone's throw from the house's Parisian headquarters — the same motif found today in the collection known as Triomphe. Here, it is printed in brown on a textured coated canvas, in a tone-on-tone range that remains discreet from a distance and only truly reveals itself up close.
The pouch is framed with light brown leather around its entire perimeter, with visible topstitching following the line of the zip and gussets. A small leather tab on the front bears the Céline Paris hallmark, cold-stamped into a cartouche. The zip pull is also made of leather, lined in the same shade. It is a simple yet very well-executed construction, typical of the Italian leather goods made for the house during that era.
Its flat 23.5 × 17 cm format makes it a piece for use rather than display. It slips into a bag or suitcase without taking up space, and gathers everything that usually ends up at the bottom: phone, passport, keys, lipstick, tissues, hand sanitizer. It is also a perfectly unisex pouch, which can be carried just as well by hand as an evening clutch or as a travel organizer.
Good general condition, grade B+ — the coated canvas is clean, the leather trim is in good condition, the zip works perfectly, and the gold-tone hardware shows no notable flaws.
