The Single Flap remains the archetype of the Chanel bag, worn by generations since the 2.55 of 1955. On this piece, the chevron quilting in smooth calfskin offers a more graphic interpretation than the traditional diamond quilting, while the CC medallion hanging from the chain — a detail the house has offered on several generations of Single Flap — signs the piece. The CC turnlock clasp bears the "Chanel Paris" stamp, one of the most sought-after authenticity marks by collectors on vintage pieces. The black cotton twill lining, more structured than suede, is characteristic of Chanel interiors of this period.
