Un foulard Céline en 100 % soie · fond écru et bords orange safran · motif pompons et cordelettes tressées · ourlets roulottés main · made in Italy · 88 × 87 cm.

La passementerie — pompons, glands, cordelettes tressées, embrasses de rideau — appartient à ce vocabulaire ornemental des maisons couture qui puise dans les intérieurs classiques français et italiens, ceux des hôtels particuliers du XVIIIe siècle, des salons tapissés de damas, des rideaux lourds retenus par des cordons dorés. Céline en fait ici une composition graphique et solaire : sur fond écru, un bouquet de glands orange corail, kaki et bleu ciel s'ouvre en corolle, retenu par des cordelettes finement dessinées, encadré d'une large bordure orange safran qui donne toute son intensité à la pièce. Le choix de la soie, fluide et lumineuse, révèle chaque nuance du dessin ; les ourlets roulottés à la main — cette finition patiente où le tissu est ourlé point par point à l'aiguille — signent l'appartenance à la tradition des grands foulards couture.
