A 1985 Louis Vuitton Speedy 40 · Monogram canvas, patinated cowhide leather, padlock and key · forty years of history and still the most practical bag one can carry.

The Speedy was introduced by Louis Vuitton in the 1930s, derived from the Keepall, designed to be more compact and urban. In the 1960s, Audrey Hepburn ordered a custom-made one in a smaller size — this was the birth of the Speedy 25. The 40 is the large format version, the one that absorbs an entire life without complaint: laptop, tablet, notebooks, pouch, spare shoes. The coated Monogram canvas, created by Georges Vuitton in 1896, has since been one of the most copied and least equaled canvases in global luxury.

This item bears the date code SA4, attesting to its manufacture in 1985 — forty years old for a bag in very good relative condition. Clean Monogram canvas, without stains. Natural cowhide leather with a beautiful light and even camel patina. Very slight rubbing on the inside of the handles and slight patina on the hardware at the zipper and rivets — signs of use consistent with age, with no major impact on appearance. Slightly rubbed corners visible in the photos. Zip tab present and solid. Clean interior with one pocket. Padlock and key included. Delivered with RARR Vintage authenticity certificate.
