Lancée en 2017 par Karl Lagerfeld en hommage à Gabrielle Chanel, la ligne Gabrielle marque une inflexion dans le vestiaire maroquinier de la maison : plutôt que le veau lisse ou l'agneau lambskin des lignes Classic et Boy, Karl choisit un cuir de veau vieilli — un cuir travaillé pour présenter dès l'origine cet aspect patiné, plus mat, plus texturé, que d'autres cuirs mettent des années à acquérir. Un choix qui traduit une philosophie : les Gabrielle ne sont pas des pièces qu'on protège, mais des pièces qu'on porte, dont chaque marque devient un chapitre. Ce porte-cartes en incarne parfaitement l'esprit avec son bicolore graphique — le bleu marine matelassé en losanges reprenant le vocabulaire du sac 2.55, la base en cuir lisse noir en contrepoint plus sobre, et le logo CC entrelacé en métal doré vieilli qui unit les deux. Trois fentes pour cartes, une fente billet centrale, un marquage à chaud argenté à l'intérieur : tout est pensé pour l'usage réel du quotidien, dans un format ultra compact qui se glisse aussi bien dans un mini-sac de soirée que dans une poche de manteau ou en organisateur interne d'un cabas. Cet exemplaire de la série 25, fabriqué en Italie en 2018, présente cette patine du cuir vieilli qui est précisément ce que la ligne Gabrielle cherche à célébrer.
