Le cadenas est l'un des plus vieux objets du vocabulaire Louis Vuitton. Avant d'être un ornement, il fermait les malles : un petit boîtier de laiton numéroté, livré avec ses clés, qui a traversé le siècle sans changer de forme et pend aujourd'hui à l'anse des Speedy et des Alma. En faire un porte-clés relève donc de l'évidence — la maison reprend ici son propre objet fonctionnel et l'utilise comme motif.

Ce modèle réunit les deux pièces du duo : le cadenas et sa clé, suspendus côte à côte. Le cadenas est ajouré du monogramme LV et rempli d'une résine brune marbrée, à l'effet écaille de tortue — une matière que la maison utilise peu sur ses charms, et qui apporte ici une profondeur chaude que le métal seul ne donne pas. La clé, en métal doré plein, vient équilibrer la composition, et l'ensemble remonte vers un anneau et un mousqueton portant la gravure Louis Vuitton.

C'est un accessoire à triple usage. Clipsé à l'anse d'un sac, il en change complètement l'humeur ; passé au passant d'une ceinture, il se porte comme un bijou de taille ; utilisé seul, il retrouve sa fonction première de porte-clés. Avec ses 12 × 3,5 cm, il reste compact tout en ayant assez de présence pour se remarquer.
