The Macadam Dome is one of the most sought-after silhouettes in vintage Céline. Its rounded shape, often compared to a "Boston bag," combines two curved leather handles and a top zip opening. The bag stands on its own, does not collapse when half-empty, and retains its shape whether placed on a table or carried on the arm. The Céline leather patch, embossed with the crest, is placed on the front — a discreet marking that says everything without being overbearing.
The Macadam coated canvas is clean, with no major flaws to note. This pattern of interlocking arcs on a dark brown background is the most immediately recognizable signature of the house of Céline in its historical version, prior to the 2018 rebranding. The caramel brown leather details — handles, strap anchors, shoulder strap, trim — have developed a beautiful patina over time, that warm, living gold tone that only natural leather acquires with use, giving each piece its own unique character.
The removable and adjustable shoulder strap allows you to switch from hand carry to crossbody in one motion. The hardware is gold-tone — rings, clasps, zip pull — and shows visible patina, particularly on the pull (see photos), consistent with the age of the piece. The 29 × 22 × 11 cm volume comfortably accommodates a phone, compact wallet, passport, AirPods, lipstick, and keys.
