While Prada, the parent house, focused on strict lines and technical materials, Miu Miu went in the opposite direction: one of the softest lambskins on the market, featuring a pleated quilting — the famous "Miu Miu matelassé" — that is neither classic padding nor simple stuffing, but a hand-gathered technique that gives the piece its instantly recognizable sculpted volume. The Coffer adds two strong signatures: a hand-crafted braided leather handle, and a gold-tone brass padlock stamped with the logo, attached to the flap like a piece of jewelry rather than a closure. These two details, combined with the matelassé, allow the bag to be recognized from a distance without any visible logo.
