Versace never practiced understatement. While other Italian houses cultivated discretion, Gianni Versace built his own on unapologetic excess: gold, baroque, mythology, and motifs that saturate the surface. The 1990s represent the pinnacle of this aesthetic, the era of supermodels in golden gowns and jewelry visible from across the room. This necklace fully belongs to that period.
The motif leaves no room for ambiguity: it is a crown. Not an allusion, not a subtle symbol — an ornate crown, set with crystals along its entire height, hanging as a pendant. The royal vocabulary is an integral part of the house's lexicon, just like the Medusa or the Greek key, and it is used here in its most direct form. The bright tone of the gold-plated metal and the clear stones that capture the light with every movement complete the design.
The box chain provides the necessary counterpoint. Fluid, supple, and resolutely clean, it gives the pendant all the room it needs rather than competing with it.
