What exactly is Entrupy?
Entrupy is a New York-based technology company specializing in the authentication of luxury goods using artificial intelligence. Its technology is used by professional resellers, marketplaces, and boutiques around the world. For example, it is a partner of TikTok Shop in the United States to keep counterfeits off the platform.
The principle is based on two pillars:
- Microscopic imaging: a dedicated optical device captures high-magnification images of the bag's materials and details (leather, canvas, markings, hardware). These images reveal characteristics invisible to the naked eye.
- Artificial Intelligence: these images are compared to a database of several million images of authentic and counterfeit pieces, built up over the years. The algorithm spots patterns imperceptible to the human eye to render its verdict.
Entrupy claims an accuracy rate of over 99% for the authentication of bags and small leather goods.
How does an Entrupy authentication work?
The process is fast, non-invasive, and poses no risk to the bag:
- Scanning: using the Entrupy device and app, we photograph key areas of the bag: outer material, interior, markings, and hardware.
- Analysis: the images are sent to and analyzed by Entrupy's algorithms.
- The verdict: the system confirms the authenticity or returns an "unverified" result.
- The certificate: if the piece is authentic, a certificate is issued. It is hosted on Entrupy’s servers and can be verified online.

This is one of the lesser-known aspects of Entrupy: every certificate is backed by a one-year financial guarantee. If an item certified as authentic turns out to be a counterfeit, Entrupy provides compensation, according to the conditions of its dispute procedure, based on the price paid up to the limit of the market value.
