Solid silver, silver-plated metal, steel: three distinct finishes

As with gold tones, several silver finishes coexist. Solid silver, most often 925 parts per thousand (known as "sterling silver"), is a silver alloy identifiable by its hallmark. Silver-plated metal refers to a silver-colored finish without any guarantee of silver content: it is the most common finish in costume jewelry from major fashion houses. Finally, some pieces, such as Gucci watches, are made of stainless steel, a material chosen for its durability rather than its value. Our product descriptions specify the material when known.

Signature codes to look for

The Chanel CC pendant, the Hermès H-Cage, the Versace Medusa head, or the Dior CD monogram: these vintage silver-tone pieces bear the same visual codes as their gold-tone counterparts, in a more understated and timeless version.

RARR Vintage authenticity and care

Each vintage silver-tone piece is inspected and authenticated by our team, described with a precise condition grade, and delivered with its RARR Vintage certificate of authenticity. To preserve their shine, store them away from humidity and clean them occasionally with a suitable soft cloth.
